Standard Dimensions for Toilet Center to Side Wall Distance

04/03/2025 | Hawkrown

The installation of a toilet is very important as it relates to future usage. Today, I will briefly discuss what to pay attention to when installing a toilet and the required dimensions for the distance from the toilet center to the side walls.

Distance from Toilet Center to Side Walls

The distance from the center of the toilet to each side wall should ideally be around 38 cm. The tank at the back of the toilet typically measures 40 cm to 50 cm. For special high-end smart devices, the tank may be elongated at the back, but the distance from the toilet center to the side wall should be at least 38 cm. This means the total distance should be at least 75 cm.

Points to Note When Installing a Toilet

1、Complete Inspection Before Installation

Begin the installation only after fully inspecting the received goods. Toilets must undergo strict quality checks before leaving the factory, including water quality and appearance checks. Although products on the market are generally compliant, you should open the brand packaging to inspect it for any obvious scratches or damage as well as check for uniformity in color among the parts.

2、Check and Adjust Floor Height

After purchasing a toilet with the same wall distance and a sealing ring, you can start the installation. Before installing the toilet, perform a thorough check of the sewage piping to ensure it is not blocked by dirt, sand, waste paper, or other foreign objects. Additionally, verify that the toilet sits flat on the floor both front and back; if the floor is uneven, it may need to be adjusted. Check the drainage pipe location and, if conditions allow, elevate it 2 mm to 5 mm above the ground.

3、Debug the Tank Accessories and Check for Leaks

First, check the water supply pipe and flush it for 3-5 minutes to ensure it's clean. Install the angle valve, attach the connecting hose, and then connect the hose to the installed tank. Connect the inlet valve, ensuring it is hooked up to the water source, and check if the seals on both the inlet valve and the inlet line are functioning properly. Ensure the flush valve is flexible and check for any blockages or leaks, as well as whether the filter unit in the inlet valve is leaking.

In summary:this is a brief overview of the necessary dimensions for the distance from the toilet center to the side walls and key points to consider when installing a toilet. I hope this helps you gain some understanding. For more information on this topic, feel free to visit the Hawkrown.
