The bathroom is a very important part of the house, and we usually equip it with high-quality floor drains. However, after prolonged use, floor drains often encounter various problems, such as slow drainage. So what can we do if the bathroom floor drain drains slowly?
Fast Solutions for Slow-Draining Bathroom Floor Drains
If it is blocked, after taking a shower, it is essential to immediately clean up hair and other debris in the bathroom to avoid clogging. Therefore, a comprehensive cleaning should be done periodically.
If it is an issue with the floor slope, this can also lead to the floor drain not draining smoothly. The effectiveness of the installation of the drain is related to the slope of the floor. To resolve this, we usually need to pay attention to the following three points
1、Increase the slope of the floor towards the drain. Typically, the slope of the drainage pipe should be greater than 1%. This means that for every meter of the drain pipe, the slope should be more than one centimeter; for a three-meter pipe, it should be more than three centimeters. Since most of the bathroom pipes are concentrated together, the water flow during bathing is considerable. If the slope is insufficient, there could be pooling or slow drainage in areas with a smaller slope.
2、You can also add a bit of slope near the shower or toilet to help drain water in case of pooling in the bathroom. During construction, ensure that the slope is relatively gentle and close to horizontal—just enough slope for water to flow. However, the slope near the shower should be steeper.
3、Additionally, you can increase the surrounding slope of the floor drain. By creating diagonal lines on the tiles where the drain is installed and placing the drain in the center of the tile, the slope of the drain can be significantly increased. Before construction, it's important to communicate with the worker about the size and dimensions of the bathroom tiles to ensure convenience.
In summary:these are the solutions for slow drainage in bathroom floor drains. We should choose the appropriate method based on our actual situation to avoid unnecessary troubles. I hope this can help everyone.
