There are many types of toilets, but many people do not have a good understanding of the internal structure of a toilet.

Internal Structure of a Toilet

When you open the toilet tank, you can see the inlet and outlet pipes, a float ball, a flush valve, and the flush button along with the connected lever mechanism. These components enable the toilet to function properly for draining and filling with water. Inside, there is a flush valve, which has two panels on top, as well as a refill pipe for the inlet valve that connects to the overflow tube.

When using the toilet, pressing the flush button will activate the lever mechanism, which lifts the flush valve, allowing water to flow out naturally. When the tank is empty, the float will drop, which will pull the inlet valve up, allowing water to enter the tank through the inlet valve, thus refilling it.

Working Principle of a Toilet

1、The primary principle of a toilet is based on the siphon effect. Once a siphon is created, the pressure difference between the water columns causes the water to rise and flow to a lower position until the water levels in the tank are equal, at which point the water will flow automatically.

2、When it's time to flush waste, the water level inside exceeds the height of the S-shaped bend, creating the siphoning effect that expels waste. After flushing, a small amount of water remains to form a water seal, which helps prevent odors from escaping.

Common Knowledge About Using a Toilet

1、Many households place a wastebasket beside the toilet for storing used toilet paper. However, it's important to clean it regularly to prevent the spread of bacteria into the air, which could impact health. It's best to have a lid on the basket to minimize exposure.

2、The toilet seat surface can harbor a lot of bacteria, so regular cleaning and disinfection are necessary. Otherwise, direct contact with the skin could potentially lead to the transmission of diseases.
