How to Adjust the Water Level in Your Toilet Tank

25/02/2025 | Hawkrown

Sometimes when we use the toilet, we notice that the flushing volume becomes smaller. Many homeowners choose to adjust the water level in the tank to increase the flushing power. Here are four simple steps to adjust the water level in the toilet tank.

How to adjust the toilet tank water level:

1、Remove the toilet lid

Hold the toilet lid on both sides with your hands and gently lift it to set it aside. Be careful when handling the lid to avoid damaging it due to bumps or impacts.

2、Adjust the flush connection rods

Once the lid is removed, you will see two black screws on top of the toilet tank. These screws are the flush connection rods. If one black screw is higher than the other, you can turn the lower screw counterclockwise and then tighten the nut below it to make the height of the two black screws even. When we put the toilet tank lid back on, the flush connection rods should be able to touch the toilet tank flush button.

3、Adjust the float position

Open the toilet tank lid again, and you will see the water inlet valve, the flush button, and the overflow pipe. There is a white float arm connected to the water inlet valve. You can turn the screw on the float arm counterclockwise or directly pull up on the float to raise its height. The higher the float is set, the larger the water storage in the tank will be. If you feel the water level is too high, you can lower the position of the float.

4、Adjust the water volume

In front of the toilet flush button, you will notice a small square piece that is yellow or blue. Moving this small square down will increase the flushing volume, while moving it up will decrease the flushing volume. You can adjust the water volume according to your needs. Once the flushing volume is set appropriately, you can put the toilet tank lid back on.
