21/02/2025 | Hawkrown

After prolonged use of the toilet, issues may arise with the flush valve and other components. Typically, when the flush valve is damaged, it can be repaired by following these four steps. Below, I'll outline the specific steps involved.

How to Repair a Toilet Flush Valve:

1、Identify the Cause of the Problem

If the flush valve is malfunctioning, first remove the tank lid. Press the flush button; if it does not rebound, the button is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the button rebounds, the flush valve itself is likely at fault, and you will need to replace the flush valve.

2、Replace the Flush Button

If the flush button is malfunctioning, you can replace it with a new one. First, unscrew the nut located beneath the flush button and remove the button. Next, acquire a new flush button. When purchasing a new one, take the old button with you to the store to ensure you get the same specifications. Finally, insert the new flush button into the hole in the tank lid, adjust the rod height as needed, tighten the nut, and then replace the tank lid.

3、Disassemble the Flush Valve

If the flush valve is faulty, you will need to disassemble it for inspection. First, turn off the angle valve for the toilet and empty the tank. Then, detach the small pipe connected to the water inlet valve. Grasp the top part of the flush valve, twist it, and pull it upwards. After removing the top part of the tank, you will see the fixing screws; loosen and remove them to take out the lower part of the flush valve.

4、Install the Flush Valve

Prepare a flush valve of the same specifications. Separate the top and bottom parts of the new flush valve. Position the bottom part of the flush valve over the flush hole in the tank. Before tightening the screws, you can rotate the bottom fitting so that the two metal clips form a cross pattern, and then tighten the screws. Next, press the top part of the flush valve onto the bottom part and reconnect the small pipe to the inlet valve. Finally, replace the tank lid and turn the toilet angle valve back on.
