Disassembling Your Kitchen Sink Faucet: Tips and Tricks

24/02/2025 | Hawkrown

The kitchen is a place essential for the survival of a household, where we prepare meals every day. One of the important ingredients for cooking is water, which flows continuously from the faucet. In this situation, how do we generally use the faucet? Today, I will provide a detailed guide on how to disassemble the sink faucet and what to pay attention to.

I. How to Disassemble the Faucet

First, we need to turn off the water valve and prepare a pair of pliers, some sealing glue, and a small knife. Next, we use the pliers to unscrew the connection between the faucet and the water pipe. Then, we use the small knife to cut through the sealing glue that secures the sink. After cutting, we can gently lift the sink out and place it aside, then remove the old faucet and install the new faucet. Finally, we put the sink back in place and reapply sealing glue to secure it.

II. Precautions for Disassembling the Faucet

1. After securing the sink with sealing glue, it should be left to sit overnight before use to prevent the glue from not bonding well when exposed to water. Also, during use, make sure to keep the cabinet door open to regularly check for any signs of leaks at the new connection.

2. If, after installing the new faucet, there are signs of leaking, we need to check the internal parts of the faucet to see if any components are damaged. We can carefully use pliers to open the faucet’s cap and check the internal parts for any signs of rust or breakage. If found, we can remove them and replace them with appropriate new parts.

3. If there is leaking at the connection of the faucet’s pipe, we should check if the nut is loose. In such cases, we can try tightening the nut first. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, we can replace it with a new U-shaped sealing gasket.

4. If there are small gaps below the faucet leaking water, we should also check the internal parts of the faucet. Generally, this situation may occur due to damage to the triangular sealing gasket inside the faucet cap. However, to be safe, we should remove the faucet to check for any gasket issues or problems with other parts. We can then remove the faulty parts and replace them with new ones.

The above is a summary of some tips for disassembling the sink faucet that I hope will be helpful. In fact, whether it is disassembling the faucet or encountering any quality issues with the faucet, these are very common occurrences. There is no need to panic; just respond calmly and appropriately.
