Every household must install a faucet. Although it's just a small accessory, it provides us with a continuous source of water that we need for our daily lives. However, once a faucet encounters a problem, it may seem like a simple issue, but it can significantly disrupt our lives. Therefore, when a faucet has problems, we need to replace it. Some may wonder why their faucet won't budge when they try to change it. If you encounter this situation, don’t worry. Here are some tips on how to handle faucet replacement.
Expert Tips: How to Remove a Stuck Faucet Without Damage
1. If you find that the faucet won't turn, first try to slowly twist it from left to right to see if it's movable.
2. If it's confirmed that it won't move, you'll need to turn off the water valve first. Then, slowly drip some oil at the joint of the faucet. After a few minutes, add some more oil. Wait for a while to allow the oil to penetrate the joint, as it will serve as a lubricant. After that, try twisting the faucet again to see if it can be moved.
3. If you find that the water valve cannot be closed, it may indicate that there is excessive sediment buildup inside the faucet, causing it to get stuck over time. In this case, the only solution might be to cut off the faucet and replace it with a new one.
4. If the water valve can be turned off smoothly, hold the faucet at the bend with a pipe wrench. Then, find an adjustable wrench to dismantle the brass part inside the faucet. Once disassembled, remove the copper core valve and find a rubber ring of the same size to fit onto the copper core valve. If you feel this operation is still too complicated, you can directly replace it with a new faucet. Follow the same operational steps, but be careful with the force to avoid damaging the faucet.
