The faucet, if used for a long time, can easily accumulate limescale, and if not cleaned, the problem of blockages from limescale will become increasingly severe. If you notice that the water flow from the faucet is relatively low, it may be due to the presence of limescale inside. We need to take some measures to remove the internal limescale. Today, I will introduce several methods to remove limescale from the internal parts of the faucet.
1. Methods for Removing Limescale from the Faucet Internally
a. First, check if the faucet can be completely disassembled. Pour some white vinegar into a container of clean water and submerge the entire faucet in it. After soaking for a while, take it out and wipe it down; you'll find the once-clean water has turned into dirty water, indicating that there is indeed a lot of dirt inside. White vinegar can effectively remove this grime.
b. In addition to white vinegar, you can also use baking soda, which has excellent cleaning power. Using the same method, soak the faucet in water mixed with baking soda. You can also clean the surface of the faucet with a combination of white vinegar and baking soda. Simply add these materials to a spray bottle, and spray them directly on the faucet to effectively remove dirt.
2. What to Do About Clogged Faucets
The primary reason for faucet clogging is often limescale. Water contains alkalinity, which increases the accumulation of grime, and such dirt can be harmful to health. It's quite unpleasant to think about the bacteria present in the water you drink.
a. To solve the clogging issue, you can disassemble the showerhead and faucet, then boil them in a pot. Afterward, soak them in clean water mixed with baking soda to effectively remove the interior grime.
b. For the smaller openings of the faucet, you can use a needle to poke and clear away some of the dirt.
3. How to Choose a Faucet
a. The most important factor when selecting a good faucet is the valve core; ceramic products are the best as they provide a nice tactile feel.
b. Also, check the plating on the faucet. Faucets treated through special processes will have a stronger surface gloss, making them less prone to rust during use.
