Toilets need to install floor drains to achieve drainage and odor prevention, and in the summer, it can also block insects from crawling up from the sewer. What is the principle of floor drains?
What is the principle of floor drains?
The water seal type retains water in the siphon, which serves the purpose of preventing odors. The eccentric type relies on gravity for sealing to effectively block water from flowing out. If it's a spring type, the principle involves using an upward or downward spring to push its pressing plate; when pressed, the cover plate will pop up, and pressing again will restore it to its original position, thus providing a better sealing effect.
How to choose the material for floor drains
1. When choosing a floor drain, you need to understand what material it is made of. Floor drains are primarily hardware fittings, and the main materials are stainless steel or brass. Since floor drains are often used in damp places like bathrooms or kitchens, which are in constant contact with wastewater, it is crucial to ensure that they have good corrosion resistance and outstanding oxidation resistance. It's best to choose 304 stainless steel, which is then coated with brass for double protection against corrosion and oxidation.
2. Both of these materials have the required hardness and strength. If you choose 201 stainless steel or brass that has other alloys mixed in, although the price may be cheaper, its pressure resistance and corrosion resistance are not particularly good, leading to potential issues with leakage or odor in the future.
3. This is because if you choose pure copper or all-copper and brass, the copper content varies. The copper content in pure copper can reach as high as 99.95%, but it is not very suitable for bathroom products due to insufficient hardness.
4. Brass is a good choice as it contains zinc, which enhances its strength and plasticity and increases its resistance to corrosion.
In summary:different types of floor drains have different operational principles, and when selecting a floor drain, it is essential to ensure effective sealing, waterproofing, and corrosion resistance.
