To prevent water accumulation in the bathroom, a floor drain is usually used. So, how is a bathroom floor drain installed?

How to Install a Bathroom Floor Drain

First, clean the area around the floor drain and block the drainage pipe to prevent any leftover debris from falling into the pipe and causing blockages. Then, apply cement mortar around the floor drain to ensure a tighter fit between the drain and the floor. Next, clean off any excess mortar, take out the anti-odor core, align the drain cover with the tiles, and install it. After that, apply cement or silicone sealant around it. Once it dries, finally, install the anti-odor core.

What Aspects Should Be Noted During Installation?

To ensure a smooth installation of the floor drain and its effectiveness for drainage, we must be careful and cautious during the operation. The following are important considerations during construction.

1. Before construction, remove the anti-odor core from the floor drain to prevent debris from falling into it, which could damage the core. The floor drain is primarily for drainage, so it should not be higher than the floor. If the distance between the drainage pipe and the floor is too short, the drainage pipe needs to be cut shorter.

2. During construction, consider future maintenance of the floor drain. Therefore, do not apply too much cement mortar. Before filling, roll up some kraft paper into a cylinder that matches the diameter of the drainage pipe to ensure it rises above the floor level, and then proceed with the filling work.

3. A washing machine should be equipped with a dedicated floor drain to ensure good drainage performance; however, a regular floor drain can also be used. When installing, the drainage pipe should be directly inserted into the floor drain and secured.

In summary:the above describes the installation method of a bathroom floor drain. From this article, we can see that strict adherence to the proper sequence during the actual operation is essential to ensure a smooth installation and maintain the functionality of the floor drain, avoiding many troubles and saving both materials and costs. I hope this helps everyone.
