To prevent toilet clogs, it's essential not to let tissues and other debris fall into the toilet. If a steel wool ball accidentally drops in, can the toilet flush it away?
Can a steel wool ball flush away if it falls into the toilet?
If it just dropped in, quickly use two sticks to pick it up. If the steel wool ball continues to float around inside, it could block the drainage pipe, making it challenging to flush away. Steel wool has a certain volume, and if it happens to block the pipe's opening, it won't be easily flushed away just by water. This is especially true for siphonic toilets, where the pipes form an S-shape, making it easy for a steel wool ball to get stuck in the bend, causing a clog because it can't go up or down.
What should not be flushed down the toilet?
1、There are many items that should never be flushed down the toilet, as they can lead to clogs later on. For example, leftover kitchen waste like fish bones or other small items may seem insignificant, but they can easily entangle with other debris and cause severe blockages.
2、Some people mistakenly flush greasy food liquids that still contain oil. While they may slip down the drain when hot, once the oil cools and solidifies, it can cling to various debris, leading to a grease buildup that blocks the pipes.
3、After using the toilet, do not throw tissues, wipes, or similar items into it. Many pipes have U-shaped or S-shaped bends that can easily get clogged. When trying to clear a blockage, these items can get pushed further down in a particular spot, resulting in a more severe clog.
4、When girls wash their hair, they should avoid flushing down hair that falls out, especially long hair. It acts like a net, capturing all sorts of debris, eventually forming a significant barrier that can prevent even water from draining.
In summary:To avoid toilet clogs, it's important to be mindful of what you discard into the toilet and to maintain good cleaning practices regularly.
