We depend on three essential things in our lives on Earth: water, sunlight, and air. Water is continuously transported to our lives through pipes and faucets, which makes faucets an indispensable element. However, few people pay attention to the knowledge about faucets. Today, I will share some related information about faucets.
1. Is turning the faucet to the left for opening or closing?
Generally, for the most common faucets, turning to the left is closing, and turning to the right is opening. For slightly advanced faucets with functions, usually, lifting the lever up is for opening, and pushing it down is for closing. Turning to the left may give hot water, while turning to the right may provide cold water. There are also more advanced faucets with heating functions; in this case, turning the pointer to the left red position gives hot water, the right blue position gives cold water, and the middle position is for turning off.
2. Daily usage precautions for faucets
1. In general, faucets need to be connected to two water pipes: one for cold water and another for hot water. It is important to know that the thickness of the cold water pipe and the hot water pipe is different; thus, cold water pipes cannot be used in place of hot water pipes. Therefore, when installing faucets, we must not cut corners by using only cold water pipes. If we do so, after a period of use, the cold water pipe may not withstand the heat and could potentially burst, resulting in a disastrous overflow situation.
2. Some people believe that faucets are only used to release water and do not require cleaning, which is a very incorrect notion. With more frequent use, faucets can accumulate a lot of impurities and breed many bacteria inside. Thus, it is essential to regularly clean both the interior and exterior of the faucet comprehensively to prevent water pollution. If there are faucets that have been in use for a very long time or are in disrepair, it is vital not to use them anymore. The water that flows from these faucets may have certain harmful elements, and it is essential not to drink it.
The above are the points I would like to share regarding faucets. I hope this information can be helpful to those who are preparing for renovation.
