How to Fix a Loose Kitchen Faucet: Tips for Tightening a Rotating Faucet

Many friends have a two-tier sink in their home, with a faucet that can rotate left and right. When using it, you can turn the faucet to the left or right based on your needs. However, over time, the connection between the faucet and the base may gradually become loose, causing instability when rotating the faucet, or the bottom may produce a loud noise due to friction during rotation. Here are some suggestions on how to address this issue:

1. Waterproof Paper Bag

Most faucet looseness occurs because the connection at the bottom is loose. You can pad a waterproof paper bag under the faucet to increase the friction between the faucet and the base. The advantage of this method is that it doesn't require disassembling the faucet, making it relatively easy to operate.

2. Replace the Gasket

If the looseness is due to the screw being stripped, which prevents a firm connection, and using a waterproof paper bag does not resolve the issue, you can turn off the water supply, disassemble the faucet, remove the old gasket, and purchase a new one from a hardware store to replace it before reinstalling the faucet.

3. Wrap with Teflon Tape

If upon disassembling the faucet, you find that the gasket is fine and the issue is only due to the screws being stripped, you can wrap a few layers of Teflon tape around the connection between the screw and the water pipe in the opposite direction. After that, you can tighten the faucet back in place to resolve the issue. If it's difficult to tighten, you can use a larger wrench to help hold the faucet in place while tightening the bottom screws.

4. Replace the Base

If you find upon disassembling the faucet that the bottom connection is seriously rusted and not usable anymore, consider purchasing a new base of the same model made of plastic. A plastic base won't rust and can be used for a longer time. Alternatively, make sure to choose materials that are less prone to rust during installation. To prevent such issues, when purchasing, you might opt for matte or frosted materials and select reputable brands to avoid problems during use.
