If the faucet in your kitchen sink starts to leak, it can be quite a hassle. A large leak can waste water resources and make it inconvenient to use water. Today, I will share several methods to fix a leaking faucet at home.

How to Repair a Leaking Kitchen Faucet

1. First, you need to turn off the water supply valve at home to prevent significant water leakage during the repair.

2. Next, remove the screws on the handle of the faucet and unscrew the faucet. Check the internal components of the faucet and take out the screws inside. Also, inspect the screws and the valve core for any damage. If you find any damage, make sure to replace those parts.

3. Usually, a leaking kitchen faucet is due to a damaged seal. You need to find a replacement seal of the same model and place it in the original position of the old seal. After installing the new seal, reassemble the valve core and other components of the faucet, turn the valve core clockwise, reattach the nut, and tighten the faucet with a wrench.

4. Turn on the faucet to check if there are still any leaks. If everything is done correctly, the leak should be repaired.

Other Issues that May Occur with Faucets

1. If you notice a reduced water flow when turning on the faucet, it could be due to internal blockages, particularly in the aerator. After a period of use, sediment and debris can build up. To fix this, remove the aerator and clean it. If there is a lot of sediment, soak it in a solution of water mixed with white vinegar for a while. You'll notice floating debris, indicating that the dirt has been cleaned out. After cleaning, reinstall the aerator.

2. If there is a leak at the connection between the faucet and the outlet pipe, it is usually caused by a damaged O-ring or some debris caught inside. In this case, simply replacing the O-ring should solve the leak.

In summary, if you find that your kitchen faucet is leaking when you unscrew it, don't worry. You can follow the methods mentioned above to replace the seal or clean the internal sediment, which will help resolve the leaking issue.
