In daily life, it is common for floor drains to have backflow issues. If not addressed promptly, this can affect people's home life. Next, let's discuss why the floor drain in my home experiences backflow when the upstairs drains.
Why does my floor drain backflow when the upstairs drains?
There are a few reasons for this issue. First, the floor drain may be clogged with hair and other debris, leading to backflow. Second, the water pressure in the pipes may be insufficient, causing the water to not drain away quickly and resulting in backflow. It's essential to resolve these issues in a timely manner, as they can impact your home life.
What are the steps to replace a floor drain?
When replacing a floor drain, it's crucial to take protective measures to ensure that the waterproof layer around the drain is not damaged.
1. Gather the necessary tools, including a new floor drain, screwdriver, pliers, cement, cloths, and other needed tools.
2. Use the screwdriver and pliers to carefully remove the old floor drain, and clean up any surrounding debris, such as cement and sand.
3. After clearing out the debris, use a paper towel to absorb any remaining water and wipe down the pipes with a cloth. Check that the height of the floor drain is appropriate.
4. Once the above steps are complete, use an appropriate amount of waterproofing material and mix it with water. It's advisable to use waterproof cement; otherwise, leakage may occur.
5. Apply the evenly mixed waterproof coating to the groove and around the floor drain. After a few minutes, place the floor drain into the groove, ensuring it is level.
6. Finally, insert the filter shaft into the floor drain base and rotate it to ensure that the silicone seals properly with the base. Place the filter mesh on top and clean the surrounding area of the floor drain; this completes the replacement process.
