If the faucet at home experiences a malfunction, we can try to disassemble it first and then inspect and repair it. Today, I will specifically introduce the process of disassembling a faucet.
1. How to Disassemble a Faucet
First, we need to prepare the necessary tools, such as a screwdriver, wrench, and pliers, and also make sure to turn off the water valve in the house.
Next, we begin disassembling the faucet by unscrewing the small screws at the back of the faucet, and then removing the handle on top of the main body. Some faucets may have screws hidden under the metal button; simply open the button to see the screws underneath.
Then, we proceed to disassemble the basin and faucet. We need to hold the water pipes securely and use the wrench to turn and remove them.
2. What to Do if the Faucet is Leaking
Faucets are prone to leaking issues, and if the faucet does not seal properly, it may drip water gradually, which is a common phenomenon. If there is a slight leak or dripping sound, the main reason may be that the internal gasket is damaged. Faucets contain a plastic gasket, and depending on the brand, the quality of the gasket may vary. You can choose a gasket of the same model and replace it, which can effectively solve the leaking problem.
The second leakage issue could be around the faucet. It might be due to excessive force when turning the faucet or if the medium has detached during installation. We need to disassemble the faucet valve core, apply glass glue to the joints, clean the surface, and then coat it with glass glue.
If leakage occurs at the bolt gap of the faucet, it is usually caused by a faulty sealing gasket. Disassemble the faucet to check if the sealing gasket has fallen off or been damaged, and directly replace it with a new one.
In summary, if the faucet experiences leakage, we can first disassemble it as outlined above, keep all components properly stored, and then proceed to repair it.
