What Are the Standard Sizes for Floor Drains?

The size of floor drains varies widely, and when purchasing, you need to choose based on actual conditions to ensure normal use in the future and avoid unnecessary troubles. So, what are the sizes of floor drains?

The sizes of floor drains depend on the type of drain

1. Anti-odor Floor Drains: They mainly come in diameters of 3 inches and 4 inches, along with various other sizes, including smaller and larger options. Depending on the shape of the anti-odor floor drain, they can be square, round, or rectangular, with household anti-odor floor drains typically measuring from 90mm x 90mm to 150mm x 150mm.

2. Floor Drain Cover Sizes: These are generally around 100mm, with the standard outlet hole diameter being 50mm. The variations mostly range from 40mm, commonly used square sizes being 100mm x 100mm and 120mm x 120mm.

3. Deep Water Drain Seals: They usually have a square cover measuring 100mm x 100mm, with a depth of 120mm to 140mm, varying by brand. A slightly narrower pipe with an inner diameter of 50mm is also acceptable, but it should exceed 45mm at least.

4. Magnetic Auto-deodorizing Floor Drains: They feature a square cover 100mm x 100mm, with a depth from the tile to the bend of the drainpipe being 80mm. The diameter is a 50 pipe, meaning an inner diameter of 50mm, but a slightly narrower pipe can also work as long as it exceeds 45mm.

5. Ultra-thin Floor Drains: These usually measure 100mm x 100mm. The square cover is 15mm thick, with a core length of 25mm, making the overall depth of the drain 40mm, and the pipe diameter is 40mm with an inner diameter of 40mm. Ultra-thin floor drains are commonly used in older houses since many have 40mm pipes. However, in new houses, the drain pipes are generally 50mm. If the pipes are replaced or modified to be 40mm or have a depth of only 40mm to 70mm, and if you can't use a T-shaped fully automatic anti-odor floor drain, you'll have to use this type. Although it also provides odor prevention, its effectiveness is weaker, and its only advantage is the fast water flow.

In summary:this is the overview of floor drain sizes. Have you gained a better understanding? There are many details to consider when selecting and using floor drains, so special attention is necessary to avoid impacting future use.
