12/02/2025 | Hawkrown
Faucets are very convenient to use; all you need to do is turn them on, and water will flow out. However, using a faucet incorrectly can significantly reduce its lifespan. Today, I will discuss how to use faucets correctly and whether a horizontal position indicates they are open or closed.
1. Is a Horizontal Faucet Open or Closed?
A horizontally positioned faucet cannot definitively indicate whether it is open or closed, as different types of faucets have different mechanisms. For a valve-type faucet, turning it clockwise until it cannot turn anymore means that the faucet is open. Conversely, if it can still turn clockwise, it indicates that the faucet is closed.
2. How to Use a Faucet Correctly
1. When performing a thorough cleaning of the faucet, avoid using steel wool or abrasive sponges, as these can easily scratch the surface of the faucet. We should also pay attention to the cleaning agents used to ensure they are not corrosive; otherwise, they may damage the faucet's surface. After cleaning, it's essential to dry the faucet promptly to prevent dust accumulation. If water is left on the surface, it can lead to limescale buildup, severely affecting its appearance.
2. When using the faucet, avoid turning it on or off abruptly. Instead, turn it gently. Excessive force can loosen the faucet over time, resulting in leaks, which often cannot be repaired and require a new faucet, leading to unnecessary hassle and expense.
3. If the faucet is equipped with a screen filter, it ensures the quality of the water used. However, over time, dirt can accumulate on the filter. If we do not clean it regularly, it can become clogged. Additionally, if the faucet has a hose attachment, it is crucial to keep the hose relaxed and not twisted; otherwise, it may become damaged.
In summary, the above points outline the correct ways to use a faucet. Using a faucet is quite simple; as long as we pay attention to regular cleaning, we can extend its lifespan.
