Nowadays, many households install a filter screen on their faucets. If the filter screen becomes clogged later on, we need to remove it for cleaning. Here’s how to disassemble the faucet aerator and clean the faucet filter screen.

I. How to Disassemble the Faucet Aerator

1. First, prepare the necessary tools: an adjustable wrench and preferably a pair of pliers. You will see a round metal head at the faucet outlet, which can be unscrewed directly with the wrench by turning it counterclockwise.

2. If the surface is too smooth, you can wrap it with plumber's tape to increase friction, which will help prevent slipping.

II. How to Clean the Faucet Filter Screen

1. After using the faucet filter screen for a long time, it may accumulate small particles or even small stones. Therefore, you can start by emptying any debris, then soak the filter screen in white vinegar for about two hours. The acidic nature of the vinegar can effectively dissolve the impurities.

2. Finally, rinse it under the faucet, and it will be ready to use. Generally, it is recommended to clean the faucet filter screen every few months, and disassembly is not too complicated.

3. If you want to avoid the hassle, there’s another method: you can fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and tie it around the faucet, allowing the outlet to soak in the vinegar overnight. This will also effectively remove the impurities.

III. The Role of the Faucet Filter Screen

1. Quality faucets often come with a built-in filter screen. Having this filter screen helps in filtering water and ensures a gentle water flow. If the water flow is too strong, it can cause splashing, making it inconvenient to use.

2. Having a filter screen in the faucet is quite important, but remember to clean it regularly every few months.

In summary: The faucet features a filter screen, also known as an aerator. It is essential to clean both the faucet and the filter screen every few months to enhance filtering efficiency and avoid issues with low water flow when the faucet is turned on.
