Toilets are familiar to everyone, and many people encounter problems with leaking tanks during use, which can cause significant inconvenience in daily life. So, what causes these leaks? Let's take a look.
What Causes a Toilet Tank to Leak:
One reason for leaks may be the aging and jamming of the flush switch, which prevents it from resetting. In this case, repeatedly pressing the switch may help. It could also be that the gasket at the bottom of the ball valve has aged and needs to be replaced. Additionally, if there is a loose connection between the float and the inlet valve, the float may not close properly, leading to continuous water flow. If the flapper valve is damaged or blocked by debris, it can also cause leaks.
Tips for Daily Maintenance of the Toilet:
1、Regularly clean the pipes and flushing holes. Use a long-handled brush with soapy water or a neutral cleaner to do the cleaning at least twice a week. The filter should be cleaned at least once a month.
2、Avoid clogging the air return hole with wastewater. Do not pour cement, paint, or other wastewater into the toilet, as sediment can settle in the toilet and form clogs, obstructing the air return hole. This can prevent the water from forming a vortex and reduce the flushing power.
3、Prevent fecal matter from blocking the air return hole. Avoid flushing paper towels, diaper pads, and other obstructive items down the toilet. If a blockage occurs, remove it promptly. Regularly check if the air return hole is clogged and immediately clear any debris if it is.
4、The toilet seat can easily accumulate bacteria, so it should be cleaned promptly after use. If you notice urine stains or feces on the toilet bowl after flushing, use a toilet brush to clean it immediately; otherwise, it can promote the growth of mold and bacteria. Make sure to clean the inner rim and base well, as these areas tend to collect grime. A fine-tip brush is recommended for better cleaning in these hard-to-reach areas.
