After the bathroom renovation is completed, we need to install the toilet and other sanitary ware. The process of fixing the toilet to the floor can usually be divided into the following five steps. Below is a brief introduction.
How to fix the toilet to the floor:
1、Handling the Drain Pipe
Before installing the toilet, we first need to check whether the drain pipe is too high. Generally, the drain pipe should protrude about 1-2 centimeters above the floor. If the drain pipe is too high, we can use a cutter to shorten it. Next, we pour clean water into the drain pipe to check for any blockages. If the drain pipe is blocked, we can use a plumbing snake to clear it. Lastly, we should check whether the floor where the toilet will be installed is level and clean the area.
2、Checking the Toilet
We disassemble the toilet and take out the toilet and its related accessories. It’s important to carefully check for any cracks on the surface and inside the toilet. We also need to inspect the water tank components, flange, toilet seat, etc., to ensure there are no damages. Additionally, we can measure the pit distance in the bathroom again to verify that the purchased toilet is the correct size.
3、Marking the Position
We turn the toilet upside down and draw a cross line based on the center position of the toilet’s bottom drainage. The cross line should extend to the side of the toilet. Similarly, we draw a cross center line at the drain pipe location in the bathroom; this line should be as large as possible. Finally, we align the toilet with the drain pipe and mark the drilling positions for the toilet fixing holes with a marker, then move the toilet aside.
4、Installing the Toilet
We first use an electric drill to create holes in the floor and secure the expansion plugs in the holes with cement or similar materials. When drilling, we must be careful not to damage the bathroom's waterproof layer. Next, we apply a layer of white cement slurry or sealant at the toilet installation position, and then fix the flange onto the toilet drain outlet. We align the toilet drain outlet with the drain pipe and position the toilet fixing holes above the floor expansion plugs. After that, we tighten the toilet fixing nuts and cover the bolts with decorative caps. Finally, we apply silicone sealant at the bottom of the toilet for sealing.
5、Installing Accessories
After the toilet is fixed to the floor, we first install the water tank inlet valve and flush valve, then connect the valve and water tank inlet valve with a flexible hose. Lastly, we install the toilet seat.
