Toilet blockages are common, and there are many ways to handle them. Many people use a toilet plunger to resolve the issue. Here's how to use a toilet plunger effectively.
How to Use a Toilet Plunger to Unclog a Toilet:
1、When using the plunger, place the concave part firmly over the toilet drain opening, ensuring a tight fit without any air leaks.
2、Once in position, press down hard on the plunger to create a seal between the plunger and the drain hole, which will facilitate the unclogging process.
3、Whether unclogging a sink or a toilet, before forcefully pressing down on the plunger, fill the bowl with water so that it covers the plunger. This will increase the pressure exerted by the plunger.
4、After adding water, pull the plunger out forcefully. This action should pull the blockage out from the bottom of the toilet. If the blockage does not clear on the first try, repeat the process a few times until the obstruction is removed.
Other Methods to Unclog a Toilet:
1、Wet/Dry Vacuum
If using the plunger doesn’t work, you can try a wet/dry vacuum. Avoid using a regular vacuum; it needs to be a wet/dry type. First, use the vacuum to remove the water from the toilet. Then, place the vacuum hose into the toilet drain, sealing any gaps around it with an old towel, and turn on the vacuum to suck out the blockage.
2、Steel Wire Hanger
Another option is to use a steel wire hanger. Unwind the hanger, then wrap some cloth around the end. This will prevent damage to the toilet's interior while helping to catch the debris. Insert the twisted end into the drain pipe and twist to dislodge the clog.
3、Plumbing Snake
You can also purchase a plumbing snake, a flexible coil designed to navigate through pipes. It can be bent and inserted deep into the plumbing. This tool works effectively for clearing blockages without damaging the toilet.
In summary:the above are methods on how to use a toilet plunger to unclog a toilet and other alternative solutions. Hopefully, everyone now understands the different options available to tackle toilet blockages!
