When installing a toilet, some homeowners may want to install a toilet check valve to prevent water from flowing back into the toilet tank. Here’s a simple guide on how to install a toilet check valve.
How to Install a Toilet Check Valve:
1、First, prepare the toilet check valve. When purchasing a check valve, it's important to understand the size of the toilet water supply valve interface and choose a check valve that matches its dimensions.
2、When installing the check valve, you need to turn off the water supply valve for the toilet. Use a wrench to loosen the nut on the water supply line connected to the toilet and disconnect the water supply line from the valve.
3、Install the check valve at the water outlet of the supply valve, then connect the toilet water supply line to the check valve. When installing, you can use a wrench to tighten the check valve and water supply line. While installing the check valve, make sure the arrow on the valve indicates the direction of water flow. The check valve should be installed either horizontally or vertically.
Things to Note When Installing a Toilet:
1、When installing the toilet, pay attention to the sealing process. For example, the toilet's waste outlet should align with the drainage pipe in the ground without any gaps. A sealing ring should be installed at the toilet waste outlet for proper sealing, and the gaps around the base of the toilet should be sealed with caulking to prevent odors and leaking issues.
2、After installing the toilet, try not to shake or use the toilet frequently. Since the bottom sealant of the toilet hasn't fully cured right after installation, frequent use or movement can affect the sealing process. Typically, it is advised to wait about 2 to 4 hours for the caulk at the base of the toilet to fully dry before using it.
