The function of the toilet check valve is to prevent backflow in the toilet. When sewage in the drainage pipe attempts to flow back, the check valve can block it. So, where is the check valve for the toilet installed?
Where is the toilet check valve installed?
Typically, the check valve is installed before the outlet control valve and at the pump's discharge position. As for the specific installation location, it depends on the type of check valve. If it is a self-priming pump check valve, it is more appropriate to install it at the pump's front suction inlet. However, for a centrifugal pump check valve, the flange should be kept at a distance of 30 to 50 centimeters from the pump body’s discharge flange.
If the installation position of the check valve is incorrect, when the pump is stopped, water in the pipe may flow back into the pump body, which can cause the impeller to reverse and potentially lead to the impeller coming off the shaft. Moreover, the check valve should not be installed too high, as that may result in a large amount of backflow.
Is it necessary to install a toilet check valve?
1、It is generally not necessary to install a check valve in a toilet because its main function is to prevent water from the toilet tank from flowing back into the potable water supply. However, in practice, this situation hardly occurs for two reasons: first, there is no pressure in the toilet tank while the water supply system has pressure, creating a pressure difference that virtually prevents backflow. Second, the water level in the tank is lower than the inlet of the water supply, so water in the tank cannot flow back into the water supply line.
2、It is important to note that the check valve should be installed in the water pipe, and it should never be installed in the drainage system, especially in the toilet's sewage line, because the sewer line does not have pressure. Relying solely on water flow cannot open the check valve; even if installed, it will not function and will be ineffective.
