How to Fix a Toilet That Is Slow to Fill or Won't Fill at All

17/01/2025 | Hawkrown

When flushing the toilet, you only need to press the flush button to achieve flushing and automatically refill the tank for the next use. However, if the toilet is slow to refill or does not refill at all, what could be the reasons? Let's take a look.

What Causes Your Toilet to Fill Slowly or Not at All:

1、Low water pressure from the municipal supply

Low water pressure is a common issue that can be difficult to address, especially for homeowners on higher floors. If the building does not have a secondary water supply system, low water pressure can become a significant problem. In this case, all faucets in the home will have reduced water flow, especially during peak usage times. It is advisable to consult a professional to install a suitable booster pump.

2、Faulty inlet valve

When you notice slow refilling of the toilet, the first thing to check is the functioning of the inlet valve. If the inlet valve is not fully open, simply turn it to the maximum position. If it is already at the maximum position, the filter screen may be clogged and needs to be removed and cleaned. If it still does not resolve the issue, the inlet valve itself might be faulty and needs replacing.

3、Inlet pipe diameter is too small or has bends

Typically, the water supply pipe for toilets is a ¾ inch pipe to ensure proper water flow. If the inlet pipe is smaller than ¾ inch, the refilling speed will be affected and may lead to blockages. Consider replacing it with a new pipe. If it is already a ¾ inch pipe, check for any bends and straighten the pipe if necessary.

4、Faulty components inside the toilet

The toilet tank contains many components. When the toilet is functioning normally, the float ball moves according to the water level. If the toilet does not refill, you can remove the tank lid and check if any internal components are damaged. Replace any damaged parts as needed.

In summary:the reasons for slow or nonexistent toilet refilling have been introduced here. Since toilets are used frequently, it is important to regularly check their condition and address any issues immediately. If you would like to learn more about toilets, feel free to follow Hawkrown.com.
