Whether in the kitchen or bathroom, faucets are necessary, but they can easily break down, such as leaking. So, how do you replace a broken faucet?

How to replace a broken faucet

1. When a faucet at home is damaged, the first step is to turn off the water valve. If there is no individual valve, you can directly close the main valve of the house. Next, prepare a wrench to hold the faucet in place, and then use the wrench to unscrew and remove the old faucet.

2. You should also prepare a hammer and a chisel, as there may be part of the old faucet that is embedded within the wall. You will need to break down any remaining parts.

3. Next, prepare the new faucet. Wrap the connection part with Teflon tape, then tighten the connection with a wrench, connecting it to the water outlet. Additionally, you can wrap a few more layers of plastic wrap around the outer circle. Finally, turn on the water valve and open the faucet to check for any leaks.

How to deal with leaking faucets

1. Faucets are prone to leaking. You might find that even after turning it off properly, it continues to drip or leak. No matter how tightly you turn the faucet, it can still drip, which is likely due to a damaged rubber washer inside the faucet.

2. In this case, you just need to replace it with a new washer and reinstall it. Leakage may also occur around the valve core. When turning on the faucet, be careful not to exert too much force, as this can cause loosening. Remove the valve core and use glass glue to seal any leaks.

3. Leakage can also occur in the gaps of the bolts, related to the wear and aging of the sealing washer. To fix this, simply choose a sealing washer of the same specification and model to reinstall it, which can resolve issues of leaks.

In summary, after using a faucet for a period, if problems arise such as damage or leaks, we need to address them according to the different causes. If it still leaks or drips after repair, it is advisable to replace it with a new one.
