Top 5 Reasons Your Faucet Is Leaking and How to Fix It

13/01/2025 | Hawkrown

In daily life, after using a mixed faucet for a long time, it may become unable to close tightly, leading to leaks and drips. Today, I will introduce several repair methods.

Repairing a Leaky Mixed Faucet

First, turn off the water supply valve and remove the screws to take off the handle. Next, inspect the components. Remove the sealing nut, then slowly rotate the cartridge or shaft in the direction of the opened faucet, applying appropriate force to unscrew them. After that, wrap a few layers of sealing material around the cartridge, reinstall the faucet, and you can apply some petroleum jelly on the cartridge threads and sealing nut, as well as replace the O-ring.

Attention to Using Faucets

1. When using the faucet, avoid applying too much force; turn it normally. Do not use the faucet as a support point, as this can quickly cause damage and potentially be dangerous.

2. When using the handheld shower in the bathtub, ensure that the hose remains extended and is not coiled up.

3. If you notice a decrease in water flow after prolonged use, you can disassemble the outlet screen and clean it.

4. Over time, limescale may form on the surface. You can use a dry cloth or sponge to clean the surface, effectively removing stains without scratching it.

5. If a newly installed faucet still drips after being turned off, it may be because there is still water inside that hasn't drained out.

Faucet Maintenance

1. Regularly clean both the surface and interior of the faucet. Use a soft cloth like a sponge to gently wipe the surface and rinse it with clean water. For the interior, you can disassemble it and soak the parts in white vinegar, then clean with a soft brush.

2. Try to avoid using corrosive cleaning agents for cleaning the faucet; rinsing it with water a couple of times is usually sufficient.
