If you want to install a heating lamp in the bathroom and choose a lamp type heater, here’s how to correctly wire the switch.
How to Wire a 4-Button 5-Wire Lamp-Type Heater
A 4-button 5-wire heater typically has two systems: one for lighting and another for ventilation. First, use a voltage tester to identify the live wire. Connect all the live wires of the four switches together, and then connect the two lamp wires, one lighting wire, and one ventilation wire to the corresponding terminals of the four switches. There will be clear markings indicating their functions, such as “lamp,” “lighting,” and “ventilation.” The remaining wire is the neutral wire, which should be connected to the neutral terminal of the electrical outlet. For safety, a ground wire should also be connected to the outer casing of the heater to prevent electric shock.
Should You Choose a Lamp-Type Heater or a Fan-Type Heater for the Bathroom?
1. First, let’s discuss the lamp-type heaters. They are not very expensive and heat up quickly after being turned on, making them ideal for winter when temperatures are low. Just turning them on for about 10 minutes will warm up the entire room. However, the quick temperature increase also means higher electricity costs since they use four large bulbs, consuming about one kilowatt-hour in a short time.
2. Although the initial cost is low, the resulting electricity bills can be significant. Additionally, one drawback is that the heating area is relatively small, with only the overhead part becoming warm; you may still feel cold during your shower.
3. If you choose a fan-type heater, the heat is more evenly distributed, but it heats up more slowly. To enjoy a warm shower, you need to turn it on in advance. However, one issue with fan-type heaters is that repairs can be more challenging in the future.
4. To address these issues, you might consider a combined model that integrates both types of heaters, harnessing the advantages of each to provide a better bathing experience.
In summary:when installing a lamp-type heater in the bathroom, it is essential to ensure that the wiring is properly arranged.
