As we all know, toilets are commonly used sanitary ware in bathrooms. Some people install check valves on toilets to prevent backflow. So, is it necessary to install a check valve on a bathroom toilet? Let's take a look with the author.
一、Is it necessary to install a check valve on a bathroom toilet?
1、Not necessary. The primary function of a toilet check valve is to prevent water from the toilet tank from flowing back into the water supply pipe, but this situation rarely occurs in daily life.
2、The water supply pipe has pressure, while the toilet tank has no pressure; therefore, due to the pressure difference, backflow is unlikely.
3、Additionally, the water inlet of the toilet tank is higher than the water level in the tank, which means that water in the tank cannot directly flow back through the water inlet into the water supply pipe.
二、What are the installation positions of toilet check valves?
1、The rotary check valve is usually installed in horizontal pipelines; for check valves with a diameter of DN 80mm, they can also be installed in vertical pipelines or inclined upward.
2、The vertical lift check valve must be installed in a vertical pipeline, with the medium flowing from bottom to top. Since check valves are prone to damage, one should install a check valve near the pump outlet and also place a shut-off valve on top of the check valve, typically a ball valve or a gate valve, for maintenance purposes. This allows for pressure relief before removing the check valve, and it is essential to have a drainage valve installed between the check valve and the toilet shut-off valve.
3、The check valve and shut-off valve are similar, with the valve body and valve disc designed alike. The upper part of the valve disc and the lower part of the valve cover are machined with a guiding sleeve. Additionally, the guiding device for the valve disc may move freely up and down in the valve gate, allowing the water flow from below to push the disc into the valve seat to open the valve and prevent backflow. The medium inlet and outlet passage direction of the lift check valve is vertical to the valve seat passage direction, while the medium inlet and outlet passage direction of the vertical lift check valve is consistent with that of the valve seat, resulting in lower flow resistance than direct types.
