Removing a faucet can be quite troublesome, as it is fixed by several components. So, how do you take down a faucet? Let's take a look.
How to Remove a Faucet
1. Preparation
Before starting the disassembly, prepare some tools such as a screwdriver, wrench, and pliers. Also, purchase a replacement faucet of the same model; if the model does not match, the installation of the new faucet will be affected.
2. Start Disassembly
First, close the main valve to prevent water from flowing out of the faucet while disassembling it. Next, remove the small screws on the top or back of the handle, allowing you to take the handle off. For some faucets, the screws may be hidden under a metal button, which can be opened to reveal the screws. However, be cautious with the water supply line; do not squeeze it too hard to avoid breaking it.
3. Remove the Cartridge
After removing the handle, you will see the cartridge; some cartridges may be covered by a shell that can simply be removed. At this point, you will see the retaining clips on the cartridge. Use pliers to remove both clips, turning them clockwise to detach. The cartridge should now be removable.
4. Separate the Faucet from the Sink
Next, remove the faucet completely from the sink. Many are unsure how to proceed. When separating the faucet from the sink, ensure to stabilize the water pipes first, then use a wrench to turn the faucet mounting nut to easily detach it.
5. Cut the Interface with a Saw
Once the faucet is removed from the sink, clean up the interface and use a saw to cut off any old or damaged sections. During this operation, it is best to use a specialized saw, as a regular saw may be difficult to cut through and could take a lot of effort.
In summary, the above content explains how to remove a faucet. Follow certain steps and prepare various tools when disassembling a faucet. If anyone is unsure of the disassembly method, they can refer to the information provided above.
