When installing a toilet, it's important to leave adequate space on both sides to avoid installation issues. Here’s an introduction to how much space is suitable to leave on either side of the toilet.
一、How Much Space to Leave on Each Side of the Toilet
Generally speaking, leaving a distance of 20cm to 28cm on each side is appropriate. The distance on both sides should not be less than 20cm, as it can make the area feel cramped and create sanitary dead corners that are inconvenient for cleaning. The installation of the toilet should be based on the body sizes of family members; if the family members are not overweight, a distance of 20cm to 28cm on each side should be sufficient. If there are larger individuals, the side spacing should be increased appropriately.
二、How to Install a Toilet
1、Check the Toilet Before Installation
Before installing the toilet, make sure to inspect it thoroughly. Check the appearance to prevent issues after installation, such as receiving the wrong toilet or one with blemishes. Confirm that the model is what you intended to buy, the tank capacity matches, and that the surface is free from damage and uniformly colored. Ensure all necessary parts are included.
2、Prepare for Installation
Before installation, prepare by checking that the drainage outlet is not clogged with debris, ensuring the floor is level, and gathering all necessary tools. Additionally, make sure the drainpipe protrudes slightly above the floor, cutting off any excess and smoothing it out.
3、Seal the Holes Beneath the Toilet
Use silicone sealant to seal the holes beneath the toilet. To prevent odors from escaping, you can also use a flange ring to seal the bottom of the toilet.
4、Position the Toilet
Align the toilet with the drainage outlet in the floor and lift it into place, making any adjustments necessary for the fit. If the reserved space is too small, consider installing an angle valve before setting the toilet.
5、Final Adjustments
Once the toilet is correctly positioned, apply anti-mold silicone sealant around the base, then remove any excess sealant.
In summary:regarding how much space to leave on either side of a toilet, it is generally recommended to leave a distance of 20cm to 28cm. The distance on each side should not be less than 20cm, as this can make the area feel cramped and lead to hard-to-clean sanitary dead corners.
