DIY Guide: Removing Water Scale from Your Showerhead

30/12/2024 | Hawkrown

The weather is very hot now,and I find myself needing to take a shower almost every day。When the showerhead is used frequently,we may notice the phenomenon of limescale blocking the holes。After turning on the faucet, the water flow may be quite low,and some of the tiny holes may even be clogged。When faced with this problem, what solutions are available? How can we remove the limescale from the showerhead?

一、How to remove limescale from the showerhead

1、The first method is to prepare a toothpick or a needle。The holes in the showerhead are relatively small,so if there is some debris accumulated inside, you can use the needle to poke at the surface to clear the debris。After that, turn on the faucet to check if the water flow has significantly improved。

2、The second solution is to soak the showerhead in white vinegar。Pour a certain amount of white vinegar into a basin and detach the showerhead to soak it in the vinegar for about 10 minutes。This can effectively remove the debris

inside, and the clear water will turn into dirty water, indicating that the removal of impurities is quite effective。

3、The third method may involve rust issues。You can choose a rust remover, which can be bought at supermarkets, for quick treatment。First, wipe the surface of the showerhead clean, then spray the rust remover and wait for a while。You

will notice rust flowing out,and afterward, you should feel a noticeable increase in water flow。

二、How to maintain the showerhead regularly

1、Regularly clean the showerhead;otherwise, over time,a lot of dirt and limescale will accumulate inside, leading to reduced water flow。However, when removing limescale,be careful not to use strong acids,as this can corrode the surface of the showerhead。Also, avoid scrubbing the surface with hard objects,as they can easily scratch it。

2、Pay attention to the surrounding environment;avoid temperatures exceeding 70 degrees, and try to prevent direct sunlight exposure,as this can also shorten the lifespan of the showerhead。

In summary: If we pay attention to maintaining the showerhead,we will find that it lasts a long time without developing limescale。Therefore, maintenance is key。If you encounter low water flow issues, you can use the methods mentioned above to resolve them。
