Because sediment tends to accumulate in the showerhead due to the water flow, it can become clogged after some time, affecting the water flow rate. So, how can we clean the showerhead? Let’s take a look.
How to Clean the Showerhead
First, remove the showerhead. Then, fill a basin with an appropriate amount of white vinegar and clean water, stirring them together. Soak the showerhead in the basin for about two hours. After that, take the showerhead out and use a toothbrush to scrub the nozzles clean. Finally, rinse it thoroughly with clean water. If there is still dirt after this cleaning, you can use fresh lemon slices to scrub the showerhead.
Precautions When Using the Showerhead
1. To ensure the longevity of the showerhead, it’s important to handle it gently during operation and use it according to the instructions to avoid damaging the unit.
2. If you notice that the water flow from the showerhead becomes intermittent or significantly reduced during use, it is likely due to internal blockage. Simply remove the showerhead for cleaning.
3. If possible, it is advisable to clean the showerhead periodically. This makes cleaning easier; waiting until the showerhead affects usage indicates that the blockage is significant and cleaning will be more challenging.
4. When cleaning the showerhead, use a neutral cleaning agent; otherwise, you risk damaging the surface coating. Frequent use of harsh cleaners can cause peeling, leading to corrosion and a shortened lifespan of the showerhead.
5. Since the showerhead usually connects to hot water, start by opening it a little to test the water temperature before turning the tap on fully, to avoid burns or cold shocks.
In summary:the above information outlines how to clean a showerhead and precautions to take while using it. Due to variations in water quality, the buildup of limescale may differ. Therefore, regular cleaning is necessary to prevent it from affecting water flow.
