Shower rooms can effectively achieve a separation of wet and dry areas, making them popular among consumers. So, can holes be drilled in the glass of a shower room? Let’s take a look at the relevant knowledge.
Can holes be drilled in the glass of a shower room?
The glass used in shower rooms is typically tempered glass. Since tempered glass is a type of pre-stress glass, it cannot be drilled. This is because, during the production process, to enhance the strength of the glass, compressive stress is formed on the surface, significantly increasing its load-bearing capacity compared to ordinary glass, making it much safer. If tempered glass is cut or processed after being tempered, it will break into small pieces without sharp edges. Therefore, tempered glass cannot be cut or processed again after tempering; it must be shaped to the desired form before the tempering process.
Installation precautions for shower room glass
1. Installing tempered glass
A shower room mainly consists of two pieces of tempered glass and a sliding door. After the bottom frame and the wall-mounted frame are set up, the two pieces of tempered glass can be installed immediately. The tempered glass should be positioned correctly before fixing the bottom. Since the two pieces of tempered glass are not meant to be movable, they need to be secured using fittings. First, use U-shaped fittings to hold them in place, then secure the connection between the bottom framework using nuts and screws.
2. Installing the top frame
Once the two pieces of tempered glass are installed, it’s time to install the fixed top frame. After securing the top frame against the wall-mounted frame, check to see if it aligns perfectly before proceeding with the installation.
Before officially fixing, determine the positions for drilling holes and ensure accurate placement.
Immediately tighten all screws connecting the top frame. Following that, proceed to install the glass and sliding door.
After drilling, installing the rubber gaskets, and properly managing the connection points, use a screwdriver and screws to secure the top frame.
Conclusion:This wraps up the information regarding whether holes can be drilled in the glass of a shower room. I hope this information is helpful to everyone.
